How To Remove A White Background From An Image

Why not just delete the white with a magic wand?

A color-based selection removes every pixel close to white. On a product photo that also removes white parts of the product itself, such as a label, a shirt or a ceramic glaze, and it leaves a jagged edge where the subject blends into the backdrop.
